His Life Story
Pa Sunday Sylvester Aluya — 15 August 1953 to 26 July 2026. A life of faith, family and quiet greatness.
Pa Sunday Sylvester Aluya was born on the 15th of August, 1953, a proud royal son of Akiewhe in the ancient Owhe Kingdom of Isoko North, Delta State. From his earliest days he carried himself with the quiet dignity of his royal roots — gentle in words, strong in presence, and generous far beyond his means.
He built his life’s work at Guinness Nigeria Plc, where his diligence, loyalty and warmth earned him the name that followed him everywhere: “The Guinness Man.” To colleagues and community alike, he stood for hard work, honour and good humour.
But it was his heart people remembered most. Even when his own hands were near empty, Papa still found something to share — and he shared it with a smile that could light up any room. His faith was unshakable. “God dey,” he would say. “God will do it. My God is alive.” Every new morning he greeted with gratitude: “I see a new day.”
He loved his family fiercely. He is survived by his beloved wife, four children and four grandchildren, who carry his name, his faith and his smile forward.
On the 26th of July, 2026, after bearing the pain of ill health with remarkable courage and hope, Papa finished his race at the age of 73. He fought a good fight; he kept the faith. Rest well, Baba — until we meet again.

Your passing has left a deep pain in our hearts, but we are grateful for the love and the memories you left behind. Rest peacefully, Daddy — your suffering is over, and you will forever remain in our hearts. May your gentle soul rest in perfect peace. Amen.

Daddy, you were my strength and my example. You carried this family on your knees and never let us see the weight you bore. From you I learnt a faith that never shakes — “God dey, God will do it” — and a smile that refuses to quit. Everything good in me carries your name. Rest well, Baba. Till we meet again.

Daddy, you always smiled as if all was well. You never gave me any reason to think otherwise, even when I knew. Sometimes I would get frustrated, even angry — but through it all I learnt something from you: you always came back filled with so much hope, even on your dying bed.
You would call me even when I didn’t pick up, and even when we had only just finished talking. I saw the billionaire in you when there was none. You are the definition of never give up.
You suffered the pain of ill health, yet you fought that fight to the very end. Indeed, you are the strength in me that will never give up. You gave me that smile that lights up the atmosphere — yes, I got that from you. I still wear white to this day; I learnt that from you too.
Even when you never had enough, you still gave. I remember my university days, before things went down — you always sent me money. I could tell whenever you had been paid, because I knew something was about to hit my account. I used to wonder how much you earned to send me so much; now I know, and I see all that you went through.
I learnt to make eba from you, Dad. To my hero, my father, my friend — farewell. You are in charge now.
Greatest of all — my hero, Aluya the Great.
Rest on. You are in charge, and you always will be. 🫶
Sail on, Dad. Heaven’s doors are open.
You walked that path — and that path put you in charge.

A Tribute to My Daddy, My Uncle
Uncle, it is true that death is inevitable, but you left when we needed you most.
You were so kind that you took us as your own children. I can remember how you treated us even when we were small — and now, just when you were supposed to reap the fruit of your labour, you left us without saying goodbye. So sad.
May your soul rest in the bosom of the Lord till the resurrection morning. Adieu, Uncle.

My Tribute to Pa Sunday Aluya
Daddy, it was a shock when I heard that you passed. Hmm, Dad, I could remember the first time I came to Lagos — your office was the first place you took me to.
Next was the Guinness restaurant. I could still remember the delicious food you gave me and the new naira notes you always gave me. Edaa, Guinness man! You also taught me how to not tie dressing neatly — neatness was your style. You were a lovely and peaceful man, always calm in nature.
Daddy, we miss you deeply. May your soul rest in peace.

A Tribute to My Beloved Grandfather 🕊️❤️
Dear Grandpa,
I may be too little to know you or remember your face, but I know that I am your granddaughter, and I will grow up hearing about the wonderful man you were.
I came into this world only three days before you left it. Although our time never met, I believe a special bond will always connect us. You left before you could hold me in your arms, but your love and memory will live on through my family and through me.
Daddy will tell me about you, the life you lived, the love you gave, and the beautiful memories you left behind. As I grow, I will carry your name and your memory proudly in my heart.

The Lord gives, and the Lord takes away. Death may have taken you from our sight, but it cannot take what you gave us. Hearing of your passing left a quiet space in my heart.

Tribute to My Beloved Uncle
My uncle was more than just my father’s brother, he was a man whose presence brought warmth to every room he entered. His kindness, strength and wisdom, he had a heart that was always open, and he showed love not just with his words but with his actions.
I will never forget the help he rendered at my dad’s funeral — he made sure everything went smoothly. When I heard about his death, honestly I was heart broken. Well, we can’t question God!!!
